Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Were you on a 41 bus on Wednesday 11th January at around 4:30pm?

My Mum, aged 87, had a fall on a 41 bus.  She fell on the platform while the bus was at the stop adjacent to Turnpike Lane and Wood Green High Road.  She was travelling towards Archway, so the bus travelled up Turnpike Lane to Wightman Road where my Mum got off.  A very kind man picked her up from the bus platform.  An amazingly kind woman, interrupted her journey to Archway and insisted on getting off with my Mum to walk her home.

My Mum needed three operations and the bus company are denying knowledge.  This is not about a financial claim!  It is about the correct procedures being followed by Arriva staff.  I would not want this to happen to another bus user (WARNING: graphic photo attached - not for the feint hearted!!).

Please message me if you remember the incident.

That is dreadful, surely the driver should have stopped the bus and called an ambulance.

Yes, that's what he SHOULD have done!

Contact a good solicitor or your MP and find out what the CCTV shows.

I will contact David Lammey - thank you.

What you should have done at the time was to request a copy of the CCTV footage from the bus.  Unfortunately it's unlikely that this still exists as the normal retention period would be 30 days.  It still might be worth asking.  The retention period may be longer.  If you state that you are requesting footage under Section 7 of the Data Protection Act and give them a precise date, time and location, including a description of your mother including what she was wearing, they are obliged to look for it and to report back.  I hope you mum is feeling better.  That really looks like a nasty injury.

I have been told by Arriva that the CCTV footage shows nothing and no driver has reported an accident.

This is awful. You possibly need a warning regarding the photo before you get swamped with complaints.

Have done - thank-you.

Please note that the awfulness I mentioned was the injury sustained and not your photo or post. I do wish your mother a very speedy recovery and hope she get some positive outcome from this. Good luck.

What a horrendous injury, noted that you did state it was graphic. Use the 41 a lot myself, the driver must have been negligent to not have reported the injury & you would have thought called ambulance.

Oh this is so upsetting! I really hope your mum is ok, is she? Is the injury getting better? As she is local does she need any help with errands? I'm sure you are doing everything but at 87 she must be so vulnerable!

My Mum has had three operations - the third taking a skin graft from her upper thigh and used to cover the awful hole in her calf, as shown on the photo, which will hopefully make it look a little better; she says she won't look like Rita Hayworth anymore!!.  Thank you so much for your kind offer for help with errands Emma, I will pass on your message to her.
