Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Finsbury Park, Seven Sisters Road & Congregational Church, c1905

Shot looking north west across Seven Sisters Road, south of the railway bridges. The church stood on the corner of Playford Road. About 30 years after this photo was taken the Astoria would be built at the far end of the terrace of shops on the right.

They must have reconfigured the streets as Playford Road doesn't reach Seven Sisters anymore.

Yes, that whole area has been massively changed. You can read a little about the Pooles Park area of Finsbury Park here. Essentially, Islington Council tried to erase it and start again!

The shop on the far right, on the corner of Pooles Park Road was Robert Stather, harmonium and piano maker

I just noticed one of his instruments up for auction.
